Our route to the Sarychelek Lake lies via Chatkal Range and its branches. The road to the main part of our route lies via the Charvak water reservoir along the Chatkal River. Pedestrian portion of this tour is made of two parts. First of them (D=100 km) lies along the valleys and gorges of Akbulak and Ters, large tributaries of the Chatkal river. Here our way lies along the bank of the above river, through birch groves, wild orchards and roses and blackberries thicket.
Having overcome the simple Karasay pass (H=3350 m) and several fords along the Ters river. You will start the second portion of your itinerary, this portion is from Chatkal valley to Sarychelek lake via Kara – Toko pass (H=3620 m), (D=70 km). We drive on a special vehicle covering the distance between these two pedestrian parts (D=100km). The mountain Sarychelek Lake appeared thanks to huge landslide of mountain rocks. Max deepness is 244 m. Magnificent Tjan – Shan firs grow on slops.
Programme
Day 1.Arrival in Tashkent. Met at the airport and transfer to a hotel. Check in the hotel. A time to relax. Lunch. Excursion around the architectural monuments of Tashkent city, including visit to Kukeldash Medresseh (CXVI), Barak-Khan Medresseh (CXVI), Kaffal Al Shashe Mausoleum (CXVI), Khast-Imam complex and Orient Bazaar of Chor-Su for 4 hours. Dinner.
Day 2.Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Ak-Bulak River (D=120 km, T=2-2.5 hrs.). Lunch en route. Pitch a camp with its tents on the bank of Ak-Bulak River. Preparation for trekking. Dinner.
Days 3-8.Walk along the Ak-Bulak River, cross the Karasay pass (H=3350m), descend to Ters River for these 6 days. On the way acquaintance with the life-style, traditions and customs of mountain inhabitants. By the end of the 8th day we’ll have approached the motorway, leads us to the upstream of Chatkal River. A caravan of pack animals will bring your baggage over the pass.
Day 9.Transfer by a special vehicle along the valley of the Chatkal River (D=100km). Survey of Djany Bazaar Mosque (CXII). Overnight in tents in estuary of Aflatun River surrounded by Tjan-San firtrees.
Days 10-12.3 days trekking on the Canyon of the Aflatun River. Cross the Kara-Toko pass (H=3620m). Descend to Sary-Chelek lake in Sary-Chelek biosphere Nature Reserve. Rest on the lake. A caravan of pack animals follows you. Descend to Arkit settlement. Overnight at the above settlement.
Day 13.Transfer from Arkit settlement to Kokand city on a special vehicle. (T=5-7 hrs). Lunch in Kokand. Transfer to Fertile Fergana Valley. On the way sightseeing programme included visit to Eski-Kurgan fortress (CXIII), Khudoyar –Khan Urde palace, Narbuta Biya medresseh, Djuma mosque. Upon arrival in Fergana, check in a hotel. Dinner.
Day 14.Early breakfast at the hotel. Transfer across Kamchik pass (H=2268m) by a special vehicle to Tashkent. Lunch en route. Upon arrival in Tashkent, check in a hotel. Dinner.
Day 20.Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport. Departure from Tashkent.
