Uzgen

Uzgen. Located 54 km from the city of Osh, on the right bank of the Kara (Syr Darya basin). Uzgen located between the major cities of Osh and Jalal-Abad region of southern Kyrgyzstan. Uzgen is one of the oldest cities in Kyrgyzstan, with more than two millennia. Emerged in the II-I centuries. BC as a trading center on the way from the Fergana Valley to Kashgar. In the Middle Ages the city was an important center on the trade route from Central Asia to Kashgar. In the XII century. was the second capital of Karakhanids. Its monuments are a unique historical and cultural heritage. There is a 44 m high minaret, built in the early 12th century, when the city was the capital of the dynasty Karakhanids. Nearby is a mosque and madrasah, as well as a mausoleum. In the mausoleum are buried representatives Karakhanid dynasty. MAUSOLEUM OF KARAHANIDS

MINARET
