North – Western Pamirs is a part of high mountain Pamirs, with A=10000 m2.  Among its spectacular and dramatic ranges, there is the range of Academy of Sciences. Moreover, on the meeting-point of the above range and the range of Peter the Great in Northern part there is the Kommunizm peak (H=7495 m). From this peak, the Fortambek glacier flows down to the North, Bivachniy glacier – to the East, Garmo – to the West. In the high mountains of the Pamirs in the circuit of the Academy of Sciences range and abutted ranges to it such as the range of Peter the Great, Darvazskom, Vanchskom and Jazgulemskom, there are biggest glaciers of Fedchenko (71.2km), Grumm-Grgimailo (36km), Garmo (27km), Sugran (24km), Geographic Association (21km), Fortambek (19.9km), Yazgulemskiy (19.5km).

There is another peak of 7000 m high, named Evgeniya Korjenevckaya peak (H=7105m) in mighty spur of the Academy of Sciences range, 12 km far from the Kommunizm peak.

One of the features of relief of Pamir high mountains is smoothed out surfaces similar to glacier snow plateau of the Kommunizm peak.

One of the most significant indicators of climatic description of an area of ascending to a climber is the amount of sediments and cloudiness, influenced on the safety and success of any ascents. In August and in September the periodicity of clear weather is more than 50 percents (up to 70%) on the contrary; the periodicity of bad weather decreases to a considerable extent on the area of Kommunizm and Korjenevskoy peaks. Cold intrusions in this region make the temperature colder with cloudiness and plentiful sediments. Naturally, on the slopes of Kommunizm and Korjenevskoy peaks sediments are only in hard form (snow, hail).
